Day 2 - Adventuring

Today we had a very early start - we were up at 6:30 and left the chalet by 8:45! We're bound to get faster each morning!
We took a longish coach journey to an adventure park in Adelboden and had a steep long walk through the forest and along the river to our activities base. We had to take a detour because the final footbridge had been washed away in yesterday's storm. We tried lots of new activities such as zip wiring, abseiling and high roping. All these were very exciting and new experiences to many of us. The zip wires (our first activity) all went across a river (a total of 1.5km of wire criss crossing the valley) and gave us an amazing view. There was also a scary rope bridge course and two abseiling stations which were on top of a high bridge which we jumped off of.

After we had a quick picnic lunch we set off for a scenic hike. During this we travelled along/through a deep gorge with beautiful views which stunned many of us (and made a few of us get wet).
Next we headed towards the famous wood carver's woodcraft shop with fascinating sculptures. Plenty of us bought souvenirs with engraved names in as presents and admired the scenery. Next door there was a small cafe offering home made cake and hot chocolate.

Finally we headed back for a tea of spaghetti bolognaise, all of us very tired from our exhausting yet rewarding day.
